A Diplomatic Effort Brings Him Back
Marc Fogel was arrested in August 2021 at a Russian airport when authorities found a small amount of medical marijuana in his luggage.
His release was made possible through a negotiation effort led by President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who played a key role in diplomatic talks.
Fogel’s family, after more than three years of uncertainty, expressed deep relief and gratitude for his return. “We are beyond grateful, relieved, and overwhelmed that after more than three years of detention, our father, husband, and son, Marc Fogel, is finally coming home,” said his wife, Jane Fogel, and their children
The release of Marc Fogel represents a positive outcome for his family and those who advocated for his return.
