The homemade touch puts an extra special quality on any gift. Going the homemade route can save money, and it doesn’t have to take lots of time. The best gifts, though, aren’t those with a high price tag or those at the top of the popularity list. They are the ones that come from the heart.

Take all those old handwritten recipe cards, newspaper clippings, and flagged cookbooks, and type the recipes into your computer. Be sure to include a note with each recipe that states who made it stand out and how it became a family favorite.

Place the pages on durable paper and bind them in a ringed binder that can be added to as more recipes become family treasures.
